About Counselling
“Counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having, distress they may be experiencing or perhaps their dissatisfaction with life, or loss of a sense of direction and purpose.”
(BACP, What is Counselling)
If you choose to come and see me for counselling, we will develop a supportive relationship that will enable you to explore your problems, come to understand your problems, and then to resolve, or come to terms with them.
At no point will I give you any advice; counselling is not like that. What I will do is listen to you, and help you to discover your own path and make your own choices. You will then be able to make changes in your own life. That is the beauty of coming to see a counsellor.
You will not be given any magic answers, or advice, but in time, you will discover that YOU will be able to make your own choices and eventually move forward and make the necessary changes in your life. You will have come to understand what the problems are in your life, and you will discover within yourself how to come to deal with them.
All sessions are totally confidential. The only circumstances where I would be obliged to pass on any confidential information, is if I felt you were in danger of any harm, or if I felt another person may be at risk from harm.
As people often have work commitments during the day, I offer evening and weekend appointments as well!
